How much does a QA bootcamp cost?
It is the first question almost everybody has and the hardest one to get answered, because most schools will not put a number on a page. So here is ours, in writing, before anybody asks you to book a call.
What Chroma Tech charges
- AI Test Automation is $6,500. That is 24 weeks of live classes with an instructor, and it is where most of our hires come from.
- AI Software Testing runs 8 to 10 weeks. We do not publish a price for this one. Ask and we will tell you.
- The Chroma Tech Academy Community is $3 a day and you can cancel whenever you like. It is a subscription rather than a course with an end date.
- One on one sessions with Diego are agreed on a call. They are not available to everyone and there is an introductory session first to see whether it is a good match.
Affirm financing is available, so the tuition can be paid over time rather than at once.
Why nobody else publishes a number
This is not you failing to find it. Course Report’s own list of the best QA testing bootcamps names eight schools and gives a price for none of them. It tells readers to go and ask each one instead.
A price on a page can be compared. A price on a call can be adjusted to what the person sounds like they can pay. We would rather be compared.
What actually drives the price
The two numbers that matter are how long the course runs and whether anybody is live in the room with you.
- Recorded video is cheap because nothing is scheduled. Nobody is waiting for you and nobody notices if you stop. That is why those courses cost what they cost, and why most people who buy one never finish it.
- Live instruction costs more because an instructor is there. You are paying for somebody to answer the question you got stuck on, look at your work, and tell you it is not ready.
- Length multiplies both. 24 weeks of live classes is a different product from a weekend workshop, and it should not cost the same.
The costs that are not on the price page
Course Report’s advice on this is worth repeating exactly: check the total price, the payment terms, and any additional software or exam fees before committing.
Three questions worth asking any school, including this one:
- Is the number quoted the total, or does it become a deposit plus instalments that add up to more?
- Are there tools, licences or exam fees on top, and who pays for them?
- If you fall behind and need to join a later cohort, does that cost anything?
Our answer to the third one is no, and our refund policy is published rather than explained on a call.
Compare what is actually being sold, not the headline. Live hours with an instructor and a recording you watch alone are not the same purchase.
The cheapest honest way to start
If you are not ready to spend thousands, do not. The Community is $3 a day, it includes live sessions with instructors and people already working in the field, and you can stop whenever you like. It is also the right fit if you are already working as a Software Tester and only want Automation Testing and API testing rather than a beginner course.
And whatever you decide, we do not guarantee employment and we say so on the intro session. Anyone who does guarantee it is selling you something.
Not sure which course fits? That is what an intro session is for, and there is no obligation attached to asking.
