Questions

Everything people ask before enrolling.

Straight answers, including the ones about money. If something you need is not here, ask it on the intro session and you will get an answer on the call rather than a brochure afterwards.

Getting started

Do I need any technical background?

No. Most of our students come from retail, healthcare, logistics, and the military with no coding experience at all. We have taught Uber drivers, stay at home moms and pizza delivery drivers. AI Software Testing assumes you have never opened a terminal.

Do I need a degree?

No, and nobody here will ask to see one. Most of our students now earning six figures do not have one. What gets you hired is work you can show at the end of the course, not a certificate from before you started.

How long does it take?

It depends on the course and how much time you can give it each week. The intro session is where we work that out honestly against your actual schedule rather than quoting a number that suits us.

Can I do this while working full time?

Yes, and most of our students do. If the cohort schedule does not fit around your job, one on one instruction runs on your schedule instead.

Which course should I start with?

If you have never tested software before, start with AI Software Testing. It assumes nothing and begins with what a defect actually is. AI Test Automation is the coding one, and it is where most of our hires come from. The Chroma Tech Academy Community sits alongside both and is the cheapest way in if you want to learn at your own pace first. Which of the three fits is the main thing the intro session is for.

How the training works

Are classes live or recorded?

Both. Classes are taught live in a small cohort, so you can interrupt the instructor and ask questions as you go. Every session is also recorded, and there is pre-recorded material to work through at your own pace between classes.

Who teaches the classes?

People who do this work, not career instructors. Diego founded the academy and teaches, but he does not take every session. If you specifically want to work with him and only him, that is what One on One With Diego is, and it is the only way to do it.

About One on One With Diego

What tools will I learn?

Java and TypeScript, Selenium and Playwright, Cucumber, Appium, Postman, SQL, Git and GitHub, Jira, and Claude and OpenAI as part of the daily workflow rather than as a novelty. Which of those you touch depends on which course you take. That list is not fixed either. We are constantly looking for the latest tools, and we add them to the curriculum when they are worth learning, sometimes purely so our students stand out.

What do I actually build?

You test live applications with the messy problems real teams hit, not tidy exercises with a known answer. On AI Test Automation you build a framework and a capstone project you present, and the point of it is that you can walk an interviewer through your own code line by line.

What is the Chroma Tech Academy Community?

It is not a course with an end date. From $3 a day, less than a cup of coffee, you get the platform, live sessions with instructors and with students and alumni already working in the field, exclusive content, and a room where you can actually ask questions. Cancel whenever you like.

Cost and payment

How much does it cost?

The Chroma Tech Academy Community is $3 a day. The taught courses are not priced on the site at the moment. You get the number on the intro session along with what financing would look like for it, and there is no obligation attached to asking.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. We offer financing through Affirm so you can pay monthly instead of upfront. The intro session covers the options for your situation.

What does financing through Affirm actually cost?

Rates run from 0% to 36% APR depending on eligibility, over terms up to 24 months. Affirm tells you the total you will pay before you agree to anything, that number never goes up, and there are no late fees or penalties of any kind.

Pay With Affirm, in full

Do you offer refunds?

There is a 7-day free trial period, and you can cancel during it without being charged. After the trial ends, no refunds are provided. The full terms are on the refund policy page.

Jobs, and what happens after

What help do I get finding a job?

Resume review, mock interviews, and job leads shared directly with the student community. Graduates keep their access to it after finishing.

What kind of jobs do graduates get?

QA Analyst, Test Automation Engineer, Business Analyst and Product Owner roles. Our graduates work at Google, JP Morgan, Citi, Capital One, Bank of America, Cisco, Delta, Southwest, Expedia and Universal.

Do you guarantee a job?

No. We do not guarantee employment, a salary, or a timeline, and you should be careful with any school that does. What we will say is that we have placed 100+ students into six-figure roles, and that support does not stop the week the course ends.

What if it turns out not to be a fit?

Then we say so on the intro session. Talking someone into a course they are not going to finish costs us more than it earns, and it is the fastest way to end up with the kind of reviews we do not have.

Still have a question?

Book an intro session and ask it directly. There is no obligation at the end of it.
